The trip sequence was inspiring. I wasn't expecting much from a pokemon parody, but damn... that was some truly beautiful animation. Can't wait to see more.

.....

Could've had the decency to crop it properly...

simple and effective

Although I rarely visit youtube you make a good point. I've seen some of our favorite NG creations there and wondered "why?".

Not a whole lot of animating in this piece but I found it enjoyable because of that. You were able to convey your point very strongly and actually inspired me a little. You don't need everything moving all the time to have a quality animation and this is the proof.

It's nothing groundbreaking obviously, but I enjoyed it.

heehaw

You talk all sorts of shit about everyone else(not that your review of my BrickFrog was entirely off-base, lol) and here you have a 4 frame animation with the horrendous deco tool in the background.

Well it was quite awful. There isn't much to say about this. I'm fairly certain that you stole the character from someone's walk tutorial. And you didn't even align it properly. You are a consumer, not a creator. Educate yourself if you want to be a critic.

Aidster69 responds:

haha yeah brick frog was pretty bad liked the script tho
i have no complaints about your response yeah it was a pretty simple tool i found making a video i never finished
i didnt steal the guy but i followed the walkthrough so it looks pretty much exatly the same well done realising its the same thing tho

feels like a classic already

I love the style here. The receipt overlay was a nice addition. Simple gorgeous frame by frame animation, fun story and fitting music to tie it all together. Great job!

nice and long, few to none dull moments.

The artwork isn't too amazing... but look at south park. Their design was kinda awful. The audio quality is pretty poor too, I struggled to understand what they were saying in some parts. But all this is offset by the great writing. The dialog and jokes were pretty damn good. Keep it up.

cRe3d responds:

ill keep that in mind, thanks for the criticism! =)

slow children animating slowly.

I hate to say it because the guy is a douche... but I agree with Sifter. The quality setting has nothing to do with how slow this plays. It was animated that way for whatever reason.

How this got daily 4th I will never understand. Blinx has no concept of depth or layers... Zunder's feet either moved way too much or not at all(though I do appreciate a good poop joke). I won't comment on Fireexit's part... other than SWEET MACHETE SWING! lol

They were all ungodly slow and pretty anticlimactic.

Be happy with a 2... those points are for the guy who threw shit.

I've said it before, I'll say it til I die. Leave Madness to Krinkels and do your own thing. Shit's boring and you water down his creation. I don't even watch his movies anymore because of you people. You cloners killed a great series for me. Not you three specifically but madness cloners as a whole.

Cascadia responds:

You done? It runs slowly because you have a slow computer, and that's not my problem. Of course some of the animation isn't perfect, but keep in mind this is my FIRST submission, and we've all improved since this. If you don't like Madness then don't watch Madness tribute animations. Simple.

Please crawl back into whatever hole you came out of.

Bye!

Really?

I mean it's slightly better than anything else you have submitted...(that's not really saying much) but no bodies, feet or hands? That's just plain LAZY. Don't even pretend and come to me with "That's my style, it's how I want to do madness." That's a cop out and a lousy excuse and you know it. Apart from the lazy animating... it was straight up boring. There was nothing interesting or fun to set it apart from the other Madness ripoffs. Boring death after boring death, hopping along from boring background to boring background to awfully boring black background. Did you even make a single part of this yourself? Or did you just rip a sprite sheet and go to town tweening? Ugh I don't even care... It sucks and despite your following of equally talentless douches stroking your anus and your ego you know it's awful... At least I hope so. It'd mean you're not totally fucked in the head. At least you're staying true to yourself in only creating spam...

DriftLV1 responds:

Yeah, great excuse for yourself, dickhead. You're once again trying to seem like some guy who matters, even though your animations are fucking shit aswell and your opinion seems to be the one that matters. You're just some no life faggot because all you do is take my spam seriously and hide the fact that you're just one big pussy hiding behind your computer screen 24/7, not giving a fuck that other people have a life.

You sir, are a waste of human life, and you can go die. Do you really think I care about what you think? I have a life, unlike you, pal. Go get a life, a girlfriend, a job, and stop wasting your time giving out stupid ass opinions you stupid ass douche.

hmm...

It was quite bizarre... haha. It just had a weird vibe.
Pretty much everything could be improved, sfx, animation, all of it really... but it would lose that surreal vibe that I kinda liked.
I was digging the Metallica at the end.

That response kind of bugged me...

"Stick animating is the purest form of animating. It's for people who want to focus on the animation talent rather than the artwork. "

What is animation if not art? You can't just pass off artwork as a secondary component or something separate. I think you need to check your personal feelings when reading reviews. If you didn't want to be judged you wouldn't have put it up for people to see. Sorry, it was alright but don't bag on someone's opinion just because you're biased towards your own work.

I accept that there will always be stick animations but sticks seems very entry level to me. Sure it's great for getting the basics down, you guys even throw some more advanced techniques in there(not advanced as I've seen in some stick animations) but think about a total gorgeous designed character with those sorts of movements. Yeah it'd be much more challenging, but don't get defensive over someone that doesn't drool over basic stick characters.

What affects a score? Technical ability? Yes. But so does the overall feeling you get while watching it. Some people love sticks, some don't. You can't ask someone not to watch it because it's out here on the internet... it's for all to see and review and score as they see fit.

At the end of the day it's still sticks. That goes so far, and I'm sure it's fun to do... but what cartoons do you see on TV that are stick figures? None, because anyone can do it. Don't get me wrong, I love animating and having fun with it... that's what it should be about but you can't expect everyone to be in love with a few lines and a circle as much as you are.

All that said; I enjoyed it for what it was, and some of the elemental effects were pretty darn cool.

TheAnimPlanet responds:

You are probably right. I did sorta blow up at him and he is entitled to his opinion. I just don't like it when our hard work gets discredited because of the type of animation that we do. Simplified characters for advanced movements. We are amateur animators, to be honest. Most of these guys aren't even 16 yet. We aren't working for Disney or Pixar, and it seems a bit ridiculous that something which has become a GENRE of animating is automatically voted down. It's sort of like listening to a punk rock song and downing it just because it's punk rock. It seems bad but people still do it.

I'll forget about it though. I guess I'm taking it a bit personal. It just always bothered me about Newgrounds. And maybe anyone CAN do stick animating, but not a lot of people can do it and make it really interesting. But I appreciate the little lesson and I do agree with you with the last part. There aren't cartoons that are stick figures on TV. But at an amateur level I just that out of 10, people wouldn't dock 4 points primarily because it was stick figures. Now if we didn't have any backgrounds, music, theme, or nice movements, that'd be a different story.....
